Medical Criteria to Continue Compounded GLP-1 Therapy

Once you are established on compounded GLP-1 therapy, the criteria to continue treatment is often different than the criteria to start.

Each telehealth company or prescribing practice sets its own internal guidelines, including BMI thresholds for continuation.

In general, most patients are allowed to continue GLP-1 therapy once started, even as weight decreases, unless BMI drops below approximately 20 or there are new medical concerns that arise.

As always, continuation decisions should be individualized and made in collaboration with a qualified medical provider.

Keep in mind if you are not starting on the lowest dose of medications, then you will usually need proof of your most recent prescription when you transfer over to the new provider.
